SAMUEL BAYER: BEYOND THE FRAME 19′ Dmytro Hreshko, Ukraine 2026

At 63, Samuel Bayer, the music video director for Nirvana and David Bowie, has seen almost everything. But a chance meeting with the soldiers of the Cultural Forces proves to be a true awakening. Facing his fears head-on, he travels to Ukraine to make a film about the people he has just met. What was planned as a standard documentary shoot will forever transform Bayer’s perspective on the world.

The Carrot Warrior, upon discovering his enslaved kin, performs a magical ritual and urges them to open their eyes to their utter lack of rights in this cruel world. Who is he? A half-mad Don Quixote defying the eternal plant-animal dualism? Or a warrior-prophet pointing others toward the path of salvation in an open field of possibilities? The choice is left to the viewer.

Here the tragic story of Josefa Centeno and her struggle against a fascist robotic mandate that interferes with her ultimate goal: reuniting with her beloved Patricio.

I AM FINE 4′ Osi Wald, Israel, 2025

This four-minute film is a collection of animated diary entries created between 2022 and 2025 – a time marked by protest against the government and horrors of an ongoing war. Through looping sketches of domestic family situations and abstract dream imagery I create fragile bubbles of sanity in a world gone mad. Put together these fragments give a very personal glimpse at what lies under the simple answer “I am fine”. The film is a pesonal project and was created with no government support or funds.

MY CLOSET 4′ Iuliia Kotsiuba, Ukraine, 2025

Under the influence of tragic circumstances, the young woman is forced to separate from her husband. While doing ordinary things and maintaining contact with her lover, she tries to overcome her fear and despair. Will she be able to cope with her feelings if the connection is lost?

In the middle of the forest, a man builds a breezeblock wall to protect himself from a fly swooping down on him.

NEWS 4′ Bublyk S., Ukraine, 2025

The film is a conversation with the viewer about the mutual influence between news and people: how news affects people, how people shape events, and how events in turn become news. The story unfolds across two worlds: the first (in color) is semi-realistic, while the second (in black and white) is abstract and metaphorical. These worlds complement each other, occasionally interact, and often flow seamlessly into one another.
