Wiz-Art 2013 is officially opened!

On the 25th of July 2013, VI Lviv International Short Film Festival Wiz-Art has been opened in Lviv. This year festival’s motto is “These are short stories, not atoms, that form the Universe”. The opening ceremony at Lviv Philharmonic started with a performance of Zapaska band (from Kamyanets-Podils’kyi) and then the Festival guests enjoyed “Best of the Best program” including winning-films from other international festivals.

1457 short films from 39 countries were submitted to the Wiz-Art Festival competition. The best 20 works were chosen to be included into the Festival Program. The international jury, comprising Philip Ilson, the founder of London Short Film Festival, Maria Sigrist, a Swedish actress, director and scenarist, and Dmytro Sukholytkyi-Sobchuk, a Ukrainian film-director will choose the competition winners in three nominations: Best Directing, Best Scenario and the Grand Prix Award.

Wiz-Art 2013 non-competitive program includes a number of social screenings, i.e. “Culture in the districts”, “Great short films” (debut films of famous Ukrainian directors of the 20th century), “Best of British” (a panorama presented by London Short Film Festival), collections of “Bye-Bye, Film Tape”, “The others”, “We Are The World” as well as a Ukrainian Films Panorama “And Cut!”. According to the voting results on the 28th of July, the best Ukrainian film will receive an Audience Award.

Festival featured guests are more than 20 directors from Lithuania, Poland, Germany, Austria and Ukraine. Within the Wiz-Art Lab educational program, they will conduct a row of work-shops for the youth and all the people interested in modern cinematography.
