Organizers of the seventh Odessa Film Festival announced the members of the national competition. In total 20 short films were selected, 3 of which – produced by art formation Wiz-Art during the Second Film Projects Competition.
Films
In the center of the film – a blast of a jar with condensed milk. This comic event becomes a disaster for the eight-year boy and provokes the characters to talk about important and profound things. The author announces: “A little accident in a small apartment will lead to big changes.”
A drama about Otherness, war, and love. The main characters – a young male migrant, an African student, and Lviv. The author commented on the idea of his project: “There is a chance that in Lviv people will learn how to accept otherness and will be open to the world.”
A film about growing up: its time limits and pain. According to the author: “Growing up – is when fantasies remain fantasies.” The central character (Yurko teenager) only becomes a senior, when he accepts the truth about his father.
All of the films were created in 2015. Shooting in Lviv and Lviv region with partial involvement of local film professionals and volunteers – were a prerequisite for competition. The winning projects were financially supported in the amount of 25, 000 UAH per project.
Ukrainian films will be judged by the professional jury – Ukrainian film director and cameraman Valentin Vasyanovych, Israeli actress Shani Klein, Russian director Mikhail Segal and deputy director of Sofia Film Festival Mira Steel. In addition, the national competition will judge the International Federation of Film (FIPRESCI).
